About Cat's Back

Dog-friendly Edwardian pub with a green-tiled facade and decked beer garden.

Small backstreet local close to the river, renamed in the 1990s after a lost cat who returned. Acquired and refurbished by Harvey's in 2012 and now parading Harvey’s windows and fascia, it is Harvey's second London pub (15 years after they took over the Royal Oak in Borough, SE1) and a good addition to Wandsworth. Under new management since June 2021. There’s a garden at the back, and a function room upstairs. This pub is a remarkable survivor amidst the mass development of upmarket riverside apartments all around.

All the bric-a-brac from a previous era has gone but it still retains its warm, intimate atmosphere with comfortable sofas to help ensure an enjoyable visit. Four real ales are available from Harvey's. The 4th handpump often features Harveys Dark Mild or Olympia. The pub sometimes offers live music (mostly blues and folk), An upstairs room known as the 'Lions Den' is available for hire. Although the pub has discontinued its food service, certain snacks such as chicken wings are prepared on Wednesday evenings.

    Amazing food and a brilliant team of staff. Really great Pork roast and the summer menu twist is a fantastic touch. Would post photos of the food, but it was too tasty and was gone before I thought to take some snaps 🤣

    I recently moved to Wandsworth and I couldn't be happier to find such a nice local pub just 2 min walk from my flat. The pub style is really unique, great beers and very good Sunday roast and burgers. If you live in the area or pass by, this is definitely a must for a pint on the go (or even two!).

    We recently had our engagement party in the Lions Den upstairs at The Cats Back. The space was incredible, already comes beautifully decorated and the staff are happy for you to add your own too. We had some home-made wood-fired pizzas for everyone, which were delicious and went down a treat. Craig was so friendly, inviting and helpful from the moment we made contact, and really made us excited for the party. He could not have been more obliging. His staff on the night looking after us were also really professional, so kind and very helpful. It was all excellent value. Couldn't recommend it…

    We held my 40th birthday at The Cat’s Back and it was unbelievable. Craig and the team could not have been more welcoming and the pub was set up beautifully for us. All of our friends and family had a fantastic time and have been raving about the venue since. We also had party food provided and again it was great. Honestly don’t have a bad word to say about the place!
