About Albert
Classic fare and real ales in 19th-century pub with ornate, candle-lit dining room, plus courtyard.
Large Young's pub on Kingston Hill, built in 1855, and near the hospital - whose staff call it 'Albert ward', it offers an NHS staff discount. Formerly a traditional local, the Albert was opened up and redesigned in a modern, comfortable style in 2007 and extensively refurbished again since then. Background music is unobtrusive. The large L-shaped main bar has seating areas at different levels. Below a separate room to the right is the Conservatory, a downstairs dining room opposite the Courtyard Bar with its sheltered seating for smokers. As well as a spacious garden (astroturf), there is also a small outside seating area in front of the pub for the more hardy.

Lovely, spacious pub with great service and great food. Had gone past the pub mainly times and it usually looked quite busy, so decided to stop in for lunch; was very pleased with this decision. Service was very quick and our waitress was very friendly. I had the Albert Beef Burger and can highly recommend. My parents had the Haddock and Chips and Chicken Schnitzel, and also said they were very tasty. Only complaint was about the mushy peas, which tasted bad and looked as if they came out of the freezer, but this wasn’t a bother. We shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert—the portion size…

Esteemed patrons, allow me to paint a portrait of sheer magnificence, for I speak of none other than The Albert – a bastion of sophistication and conviviality that beckons with the allure of an open fire ablaze in its heart. Step inside, and you are greeted by the embrace of warmth and elegance, the flickering flames casting a gentle glow upon the tapestries adorning the walls. The pub's layout, reminiscent of a stately manor, boasts distinct sections, each offering its own ambience to suit the discerning palate of its clientele. From the snug alcove tucked away by the hearth, where one can…

Love The Albert. Both fish & chips, SBD place and jersey royals were excellent. The staff are really lovely, very accommodating, not intrusive, always helpful. Definitely coming back.

This venue was most welcoming when I opted to have a family wake here Right from the start from tentative enquires, Brad (our host )and his team could not have helped me more . After an emotional send off to arrive ,and have 40% of the bar area for our private use for the time we were there was much appreciated. With tea, and coffee to hand to help our selves, Drinks via the bar Away from the public it lead to a relaxed atmosphere thou it was a case of waiting for the food as it been prepared freshly . My only comment on the down side is the VERY LIMITED parking area for just three cars a…

Quite empty for a late lunch, but blissfully quiet. Good food. We had the camenberg cheese, crab cakes and chips with a coffee and a lemonade. The bill was just under £40. The sharing cheese was beautifully cooked and succulent and the crab cakes were excellent. Crab cakes were advertised as coming with a salad. That part was the only dissapointment as it was just lettuce leaves nothing else.
