About Blacksmith's Arms
17th-century inn decorated with floral baskets, offering British comfort food, plus a garden.
The Blacksmith's Arms is a historic and picturesque pub located on high ground amid beautiful countryside. It also has a well laid out garden and has previously featured in the National Gardens Scheme. Dogs are welcome in the bar area. In recent years there has been an annual festival of performing arts. The pub's website details the history of the building which stretches back to 1628 when a farm house and stables were erected. It became an alehouse in 1729 and was owned by a blacksmith's family business. The pub can be easily reached using the R5/R10 bus service but the service is infrequent so checking the timetable is recommended.
Closing times may be subject to variation and the pub may close earlier than the times specified.

Good choice of dishes on the menu. There were three of us; we had the steak, the scampi and the butterfly prawns. All were delicious. The plates were hot and the presentation was good. Dessert was lemon meringue pie with ice cream. The ice cream in particular was lovely. The lady who served us was very nice.

Lovely setting and good atmosphere but poor service. We waited 40 mins for sandwiches before requesting a refund. Bar staff said it wasn’t their fault and blamed the kitchen. I have been here on several occasions in the past and had a good experience so assume they were having a bad day or are under new management.

Really lovely pub. Great atmosphere. Good sized garden area with panoramic views from the front over Kent countryside. Cosy inside seating with lovely ambience. Good quality food - fish & chips seemed a popular choice with other patrons. We had baguettes - still very tasty. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

On the entrance we were greeted with a super friendly welcome when asked if children are allowed in the pub, from the lady behind the bar. The pub itself it’s a real gem, the atmosphere was great and everyone seemed like a friendly local.
