About Castle

Busy corner pub with draught beer from American craft to German lager, plus a seasonal British menu.

A pawnbroker's sign and a large painting commemorate a former licensee of this pub lending George IV money for a bet, some of which he accepted as reward the right to practise as a pawnbroker which of course has not been used. The pub was refurbished in 2021 and now has a single bar. wooden floorboards and some exposed brickwork. There is a mixture of seating styles with additional seating up the steps at the rear of the pub.

Surprisingly good pub and just next to entrance to busy tube station so I expected it would have been crowded as hell at Friday evening but we managed to find a table after visiting Nandos next door. They pour nice pint of Guinness which is not that common in London anymore, fast one too. Price is normal, 6.65, so close to devil's number. We had good time, music wasn't loud, service was attentive and you could tell they have a good team there. Not my area at all but please visit when nearby you won't be disappointed. Liked decor and painting, toilet was clean which is not a case in so many…

Nice pub at lovely location. So convenient to have a drink if waiting for train. Staff is cool and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and nice vibes. Variety of drinks in cask & keg. Very busy between 17:00 to 19:00 after office time so be careful ❗️

I had such a lovely experience at The Castle. From the atmosphere to being quickly greeted, seated and served. I was served by Alex who was smiling the whole time and stayed patient as I listed out my orders and also checked up on our table to make sure things were running smoothly which I really appreciated. Such a great pub will most definitely be coming again!!

Visited the castle for the first time, a great little pub, popular with locals. There is a great atmosphere and despite being busy service was very quick. We opted to sit upstairs and it was a little quieter, which was nice. The decor is really well thought out and tastefully done, the upholstery is really sumptuous in nice velvets. We enjoyed a few drinks and then the nachos and my goodness were we surprised when they arrived to our table, home made nachos and topped with everything you could hope for! The chillis added that kick of heat and the sour cream to cool the palate afterwards…
