About Castle

Light-filled pub with colourful fabrics and vintage trimmings, plus decked roof terrace.

The Castle is open following refurbishment on a visit made on 15th April 2023.

A corner pub (junction with Baron Street), and a refurbishment/conversion from what was the Pint Pot to provide the current "traditional" modern, minimalist look with dark wood door facing the bar area, wooden flooring, low lighting, sofas and a roof terrace looking out at bus top-deck height.

This pub was referenced in the Hatton Garden diamond heist court case. This was the biggest robbery in British history, and it was apparently planned at Friday night meetings in this pub! A 'Toby' relief to the top left of the Pentonville Road door indicates that this was once a Charrington's house.

I was there during Monday afternoon, so fairly quiet. They have an amazing roof top garden. Staff were very friendly. I bet this is a great pub in the evening. I left still early evening. Loads of tables had reserved signs for later on. So I think the atmosphere must be good. So my lower score for atmosphere I’m sure would change in the evening.

Lovely pub, for a drink but this time we ate and the food was outstanding. We went for Sunday lunch and between three us us managed to try the beef, chicken and pork. All the meats were very nicely cooked, and a generous portion (especially the beef) and came with amazing Yorkshire puddings and lots of veg. Extra gravy and puddings available on request and included in the price I think! Brilliant.

Enjoyed traditional fish and chips, mac and cheese, sliders, and the most delicious hummus! Atmosphere is excellent and the rooftop is the perfect spot to relax and have a drink. Sophie was so friendly! Many Thanks!

We had a lovely roast here. I was gobsmacked by the beef and great service from Reiss and the rest of the team. They know their way around a Guinness too. We’ll definitely be back.

The Castle is one of the best pubs in Angel, it's away from the hustle and bustle of the main Angel area so you can have a quiet drink with friends or read a book. There's an upstairs roof terrace area so if it's sunny you can enjoy the sun. The staff are really nice, relaxed and friendly as well. I'll certainly be coming back to the Castle soon 😊
