About Coach & Horses

Modern pub with leafy beer garden serving burgers, fish dishes and classic mains, plus quiz nights.

There has been a pub on the site, next to Ickenham pump, for 400 years. In 1759 Stephen Salter bought the Chequers. The Salter Brewery merged with the Cannon Brewery which later merged with Ind Coope. As the more recent name suggests it was originally a coaching house and now boasts a warm atmosphere thanks to the real fire and friendly welcome, even if the ceilings could be a bit higher and service could be a bit quicker. Quiz nights are Tuesdays and Sundays. Since being sold to Stonegate in 2010 this former Ember Inn offers six mostly regular real ales. Grade II listed. Refurbished March 2018.

Stopped in for a quick snack and drink. Ordered fries, onion rings and mushroom cheese on bruchetta. Best onion rings I have had in years. Fries chunky and freshly made, mushroom dish very good. Staff friendly and efficient. Will be a returning again.

I like the Coach and Horses, it's of a piece with its locale and adds to it. Ickenham is a 2-pub village, the other one a Spoons that closed and then re-opened, in June 2024, under new ownership. Whatever, the long-established Coach and Horses had competition which would have killed another pub, yet survived. The reasons are two-fold: Decent pub grub and a well-kept range of drinks. An obvious solution? A lot of pubs still don't get it! Whatever, pop in when you're next in Ickenham - it's on the Metropolitan Line and the pub's minutes from the station - and, quite simply, enjoy. We were amongst a group of around 25 people who took over an entire wing of the establishment. It was very jovial and the atmosphere was fabulous. Young and old plus a pet were part of our party. The Food consumed was mainly from the sandwich selection which was delicious and prepared with the freshest ingredients. I wish I had taken photos but will be back for the sicken, bacon, and avocado on brown with those delicious chunky chips asap. I could tell that the weekends must be seriously fun in this pub.

Not my first choice of eating establishment in the area.Sadly the Beefeaters in the local area have both closed. It used to be very nice, a bit down hill lately. My son wanted to go for his birthday. A lot of stuff on the menu not available. Ordered via the app at the table, staff weren't quite attentive. The food that we had was OK. Drinks were good, recommend the Wicked Lady Rose.
