About Crown & Sceptre

Stylish hotel offering chic rooms with high ceilings, plus a hip English/Pan-Asian restaurant.

Built by Charles Frederick Phelps and opened in 1871. The pub retains its original openings which would each have accessed a different social class of bar; it is described as architecturally important by the Council. Now it has become a family owned gastropub, restaurant and boutique hotel in this affluent part of West Kensington. There is modern artwork and decor and strange music; a stuffed Peregrine falcon presides. The food menu includes Sunday roasts. It is reported that one cask ale is on offer here, from the Greene King stable.

Ate here during our stay in the area. Location was very nice. Food was very good, staff/service was great. I ordered the Beef Bourguignon (see photo). Others in our group ordered Cod and Chips, Wagyu Burger and Rib Eye Steak. All was delicious! Limited selection of beers on tap. Overall great little spot!

A beige dinner. Staff were friendly, location is good, atmosphere ok - lively but not too noisy. Ordered Chicken, potatoes, spinach and a rich mushroom sauce. Got just about cooked enough chicken, no spinach, an insipid mushroom sauce and great potatoes. With a G&T and service, it was a couple of quid under £30. Not great value, darn expensive for what it was. Perhaps MasterChef spoils us in that food tossed on a plate and just about cooked for £16.95 is actually awesome ….. How this place is a 4.2 rating is beyond me.

Really nice hotel and friendly staff with good service. The rooms could do with some TLC but they're excellent otherwise and always clean!
