About Curtains Up

Bright pub mixing traditional and modern styling, offering Sunday roasts.

Imposing backstreet local built in 1879 as the Admiral Palliser and renamed the Barons Court Hotel the following year. It later became Barons Ale House, changing to its present name when it was refurbished with a theatrical theme in the 1990s.

Inside, three distinct drinking areas are served by a square island counter. Clientele is mainly a combination of locals and students from the nearby drama and ballet schools. Food offerings includes weekday brunches and Sunday roasts.

The small 60-seat Barons Court Theatre in the basement features short-run plays and changing afternoon magic shows.

We visited Curtains Up on the first and last day of our four-day London trip, and it couldn't have been a better choice! Coming from Prague, we were looking for a true London experience, and this was it. The atmosphere was exactly what we hoped for in a traditional British pub. Even though three of my friends didn’t speak English, the waitress was incredibly patient and polite, making everyone feel comfortable as we decided on food and drinks. Big thanks to the bartender too, who let us sample the local beers before choosing. Highly recommend!

Nice enjoyable time here before watching the Cinch tennis tournament. Really fabulous decor, fabulous toilets and nice food and drink. Had the scallops to start, but forgive me, I made a terrible mistake and between the Irish girl in me and my bad eyesight, I mistook the bed of salt the scallop shells were lying on to be a bed of mash potatoes.. so the scallops were very salty and it took me copious amounts of Chablis and high intensity googling of whether high levels of sodium can kill you … to recover enough to have my main course of plaice - nice enough although skin soft and fish warm…

I recently visited this pub and had an exceptional experience. The food was absolutely delicious and exceeded my expectations. The service was fantastic, especially from the assistant manager, Ray. He was attentive and made sure everything was perfect. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

I waited until my very last night in London to come to The Curtain's Up, and all I can say is, "What a finale!" The atmosphere is great for singles, families, and all that's in between. The fish and chips were excellent - the best I've ever had. The staff were all friendly, especially Ray! Thank you, Curtains Up, for a great last night in the UK!

We searched for a nearby pub as we arrived to our hotel tired after a day of travelling and we’re so glad we ended up here. It’s a great pub, great vibe with cool decor, music and atmosphere. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful - can’t fault the service. We later found out it was the manager, Ray, behind the bar who took such good care of us. The food was perfect with amazing vegan options too! Highly recommend.
