About George
Victorian corner pub with large etched windows, moulded ceiling and stripped wooden floors.
There has been a pub of this name here since at least 1739; the present building dates from 1897. The street was originally called Portland Street after its owners, the aristocratic Portland family, but was renamed D'Arblay Street in 1909 to commemorate the nearby residence of Fanny Burney (later Madame D'Arblay). Shepherd Neame of Faversham have been owners since 2013.

A very traditional street corner pub in Soho, the George offers all you need. A warm welcome, good service, great beer and lots of lovely people. A delight to visit and enjoy the atmosphere.

The bartender is a thief! At the beginning, the lady behind the bar was really kind with a lovely smile. She proposed to me to taste the beer for making a choice. I payed by card and then she told me « the payment declined, please try again ». She gave to me the receipt on which it’s written « declined ». I was really confused because, for me, the transaction worked. When I showed her my bank account with the transaction, she answered « this one will be canceled, trust me. We never have a problem, it never happens. ». I payed twice but I was confused. I kept an eye on her for the next…

Lovely bar when we got here, but they rang the bell for last drinks then took our order and as we sat down said we we are closed and kicked us out! Very disappointed in the service, will not be returning!

Pleasant enough place to meet away from the main throngs of Soho and Oxford Street, service okay, drink selection decent with a couple of hand pumps and about average for central London prices, interior smallish but pleasant and has some character to it, all in all a nice little pub.
