About Green Man

Detached suburban pub, once owned by Beasleys brewery and then Courage. It is located at the north end of Shoulder of Mutton Green. It has retained two distinct bars - the public accessed from the front and the saloon from round the left hand side. Each bar has its own counter, each equipped with two handpumps. Pool dominates much of the public bar. Sunset Restaurant is advertised at the side entrance. The interior has changed little in the last fifty years.

Visited yesterday for a wake and was disgusted at the buffet. The food was constantly picked up and moved to different plates by the lady who was doing the buffet, using her hands that she has been previously been scratching her head and picking up glasses. I was so shocked to see her picking handfuls of sausage rolls in front of me and putting them on different plates. Will not be going back!

Having viewed a couple of other local venues we booked a private room for our brother's wake. Unlike the other venues, we were immediately made to feel welcome and felt that this venue would suit our needs with it's bright open outlook and level access for elderly guests. A lovely lady went through all the catering options with us, plus extras available. We ordered for 50 guests, even though she felt we'd have too much food. On the day itself there was a good variety of food as promised which was replenished quickly as trays were emptied. Our guests all gave positive feedback and said how…

Really nice local pub. Great garden for kids.

Attended funeral wake with family, the spread that was put on was very sparse considering it cost £300, must confess I expected more. The guineas was cold and served well, the bar staff are convivial and very friendly, the outside area is pleasant. Overall I'd give the pub 6/10. Atmosphere is created by the people in attendance

This could be such a good pub… sadly it’s not family friendly. They have a lovely garden here with children’s play area, but it shuts at 4pm, the inside is not great. They do serve food but the hours are very limited. They also do allow children but display signs saying ‘children must be off the premises by 6pm’ so not great if you want to have a meal with the family. Half the pub is arranged as a restaurant which doesn’t seem to get much use. This is the only pub within walking distance for us and we have been here a few times. Unfortunately the service is generally not great. This weekend…
