Rustic yet stylish pub with real ales & a menu of steaks, burgers & updated pub-style grub.

Ex Charrington pub became Greene King in 1993. In the back yard there is an area that has been excavated (in the past) to expose the foundations of Shakespeare's "Curtain Theatre" where he 1st performed Romeo & Juliet & Henry V, himself as an Actor. The current lessees have tried to purchase this area of land so they could put on mini plays and presentations of Shakespeare's work.

    We had our wedding celebration at the Horse & Groom and everything went perfectly. Management were attentive and staff were super cool and did a bang up job. We've even talked about throwing another party for our friends upstairs in the future! Love this venue. Simon & Nicola.

    Absolutely loved this place. First visit. We were at the music event (7th June). Amazing sound system, great drinks. Lovely staff and lovely place. Loved it ! Can't wait to go back !

    I had my 30th birthday party here, hired out the upstairs, and Neil and the staff were absolutely amazing. Super responsive and attentive, did everything they could to make it a great night - and it was. Can’t recommend it enough! They helped us with everything from the decorations to the specifics around the DJ booth, and made it super special. Thank you so much!

    Neil was awesome, facilitated an area for 30 of us for work drinks. Super responsive, nice touch with giving us wristbands too made the tab much more manageable. Will be going back for sure

    came here with my partner to have a nice meal with her birthday. Teresa served us and thought she was fantastic. we came with our two little ones and she was nothing but class. helped us out and when the littlens were getting uncomfortable she came and gave us a book to keep them occupied. food was good and service was great. thank you Teresa for the lovely service.
