Something seems to be going seriously wrong at this pub and I can’t see it surviving for long under its current owners/management. It’s such an attractive and historic building but everything is in a very shabby state. The exterior is in dire need of a drastic makeover. The interior is quaint but neglected. I didn’t try the food but the one real ale (Pride) was not well kept. If you want a pretty country pub in the area that is well run and clean, go to the Pied Bull round the corner.

Very lovely old historic pub with loads of character. Nice and cosy with the low ceilings and open fire, complete with the very well loved local dog (who clearly runs the place). Mum, dad and daughter staff were all very friendly and accommodating, and the food was also very good and wholesome. The pork and rabbit stew was delicious, as was the pickle and cheese sandwich, and our son enjoyed his chicken nuggets and chips. All were reasonably priced, as was the beer

Unfriendly service - staff ignores you. Chatting behind bar, ignoring all customers. Happened both times. Management remembers to upsell for dinner and prompts to book a table for another day. Happened both times. The 2nd time, one of our party used the car park, but didn't enter their number in a machine somewhere. Staff never prompted us, nor did we notice a machine. Fined £100. Appealed with receipts of purchases. Ignored, and received a threatening court date. Paid the £100 Summary: Staff doesn't care, no friendly service, ignores you, but remembers to upsell, and can't be bothered to…

This place has so much potential. We have been coming for years and have been happy. We came back first time since summer 2020 ( due to Covid closures, not by choice). We were surprised to see that the garden only had 4 tables taken. We came around 7ish and were told the back garden will be shutting soon - around 7:30pm due to lack of staff. This is the part that’s child friendly - with a climbing frame, toys, bouncy castle. Parents heaven. The main reason why we came here. The other 3 families left, we moved to the front garden. I think the pub needs a change before it’s too late - it was a…

What a great little pub! We were originally booked in at The Plough a few minutes up the road but as the service the was so poor decided to give the King and Tinker a call... This was at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon... They said fine to come over that they had space. We arrived and had pate and whitebait starters and fish and chips and ploughman's for mains... The food was fantastic and the portions were also too big for us. The service was also very warm and friendly.... It's all too often these days that the waiting staff at pubs and restaurants have no character... That's definitely not…
