Honestly, I come to Hackney Wick all the time but today was awesome. A guy called Ben was working the bar and he was so engaging and sound. Had a great chat with him, he recommended all sorts of good drinks and sorted the 9 dart competition process. Makes a massive difference having bartenders who genuinely care and know their stuff - fair play - definitely coming back!

Good location by the river, nice tables outside or you can get your drink in a plastic cup and sit on the grass. Rather darker and gloomier inside for those hiding from sunlight and/or watching the football. Dart board - ideal. A couple of interesting beers on tap including Deya. Rather underwhelming service but not surprising the staff are so gloomy, given the gloominess of the bar itself. Skip inside and grab a drink and laze on the grass by the river instead.

It's a pub in a nice location, however the waitress poured the first drink I ordered in a single use plastic cup, and when I requested a glass one, the waitress said I wasn't allowed to because I was sitting in a table on the grass. Then I pointed out some of the people seemed to be drinking in glass ones and she said those were reusable plastic cups. Why she didn't used that to start with? I then asked to serve me the second drink in a reusable plastic cup (there were plenty stacked up in the bar). I think they should be thinking more about the environment. It's 2024! Single -use plastic…

this is our regular Tuesday and Wednesday evening, and if football is on , its on at the Lock inn. we had a good night and there is a drink for everyones taste. i also can recommend the burger and the calamari. there are a number of pizzas and chefs specials to chose from.

I came here wanting to love this independent pub by the canal. Unfortunately, the bartender, like other reviews have mentioned, was unnecessarily passive-aggressive, creating a charged atmosphere in the entire pub. He ignored me at first, then shouted 'What?' when he finally decided to take my order. We reluctantly got our drinks (they were expensive), drank them, and it's safe to say I won't be back.
