About Philomena's
Irish rugby supporters find this pub a home from home as it shows all the matches on the big screen.
Formerly part of Mitchells and Butlers O'Neill's chain of theme pubs, before that the Sugar Loaf (a Bass Charrington house in the 1970s, and apparently it featured in an episode of Minder - let us know if you spot it!) and a pub dating back to at least the 1770s when it was a meeting place for the Jerusalem lodge. Now down to just one cask beer at a generous £7 a pint (Aug 2022).
It changed in September 2012 to Philomena's, with the faux-Oirish makeover of the previous decades being stripped away, and the somewhat cavernous bar was lightened and opened up. A full renovation was undertaken earlier in 2013, and further improvements have been made. A self-proclaimed Irish Sports Bar and Cafe. Big screens remain, and sports featured especially at weekends.

Thanks to the following reviewer for the recommendation 👍👍👍 Great pub. Great people. Great owner. "I recently visited Philomena's, hoping for a relaxing evening out, but was sorely disappointed by the overt political statements plastered across the establishment. Instead of a welcoming atmosphere, I was met with a barrage of flags and symbols that seemed out of place and unnecessarily divisive. The establishment prominently displays the Palestinian flag and a version of the Pride flag, turning what should be a neutral social venue into a political statement. While everyone is entitled…

Food and staff was very nice with us , we buy drinks food all good a manager come outside we joke as friendly that he look amazing as Jesus , he come to us do u have problem in a rude way … why you want to ruin our night . You order food why not boss a in a rude way He go to the staff to tell us not to serve us , anyway we finish our meal We ware here before never expect someone coming ready for argue/fight Why because we have good time and he is not happy with your job . Place is amazing but this kind of management they need to be in hospitality

A super nice place, with very nice staff and reasonable prices for inner city London! I don't quite understand why this place has gotten 1 star by other people, since I don't see any flaws. Happy to see a fun and cool place to go for a beer with good values. Cheers!
