About Railway

Spacious and bright family-friendly hostelry in former Victorian hotel, with budget meal deals.

Originally an hotel erected opposite Putney station in 1889, renamed Drummonds from 1986 to 1993, the restored Railway was an attractive Wetherspoon's corner pub with bars on the ground and first floors connected by two staircases and latterly showcasing locally brewed beers. There were 'intimate' booths downstairs and the walls were adorned with old photographs and local history information panels. The ornate exterior featured illuminated figurines.

A Revolution cocktail bar from 2017 to 2023, then closed, refurbished and reopened by Urban Pubs & Bars, back again as the Railway in early September 2023. The spacious ground floor bar has a comfortable snug to the rear. Upstairs are more drinking areas and above is a sheltered roof garden.

Appealing snacks and meals are on offer and the cask beer is from a local brewery.

Good food and beer options. Good setup for watching the football upstairs, but went to see the FA cup final and they didn’t open the doors until 2.30 half an hour before kickoff and as soon as the final whistle blew staff told us they were closing the bar upstairs. We might have stayed for another drink or two. Seems odd decision when downstairs was mostly empty.

We hired out the bar up stairs for a birthday party. We pre-ordered the food which was from the finger food menu and also the pizzas. All the food was amazing, and from start the finish all the staff were so friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough for us. We highly recommend using The Railway for any special event.Thank you to everyone for a great evening!

The Railway Pub Putney used to be what once was a pub/bar/dance venue called Revolution but what it is now is way better than before. Their kitchen was restructed and the food is a lot better than before. There are new refied dishes and their drinks are good. They offer a good selection of alcoholic drinks and also non-alcoholic ones. The railway seems to be a great ootion now for all sorts of people. The design of the place and the music is relaxing and nothing too loud. It definately have a way different air to what it used to have before. It seems to be way more refined and more…

Really good food, great atmosphere, however was very busy due being a Saturday afternoon/evening so service wasn’t as regular and had to get up and ask for food order & bill which we sited for a while for, and get our own water as it never turned up. Appreciate though it was very busy, and would come back as staff were friendly just very occupied! Pizza, stack beef burger, chicken wings and truffle fries all verrrrry good!
