About Royal Horse Guardsman

The Royal Horse Guardsman is a small single bar street corner pub close to Brentford football ground. A former Courage (ex Ashby's Brewery) pub it closed 13th Jan 2008 and reopened as a Free House on 8th December 2010. Very much a locals pub. Externally, the pub retains evidence of its former days as a Courage pub and a floor mosaic by the entrance denoting Ashby's Ales reflects even earlier ownership. Despite the bare boards, the interior is comfortable, if somewhat devoid of character, although some etched glass windows bearing the pub name add a bit of cosiness.

Cracking pub, open till late too. Entered the pub around midnight after going to a nearby techno festival, and was met with a big light-hearted cheer by the locals. They were very friendly and recommended the Guinness. Best pint of Guinness I’ve had in years, or 3 pints should I say. Will be back next year.

A real locals local. Street corner pub in Brentford. All watching the horses and chatting away. A great pub with a clear regular group of locals enjoying the afternoon. The bar staff are superb and the beer is great. Not at all a bad place for a pint.

What a brilliant pub. The regulars were fantastic. The bar staff excellent, and they served a great pint.

The owner/manager can be a bit hands on, him and his rough friend tried to get physical and threw me out of the pub - when I hadn’t lifted a finger! Not a the sort of behaviour I’m used to locally shall we say. Haven’t gone back, don’t feel welcome.

We had a wonderful time in this pub! We were made to feel welcome by everyone. Thank you to Abby, brother and her husband. Please give my regards to the cat and the dog......I truly hope that we can come down again.... Andy and Amanda....North Wales
