About Royal Oak

Cosy, well-lit pub serving hearty comfort staples alongside real ales, ciders, cocktails & wine.

Dating from 1843, The Royal Oak is a classic, traditional pub in a residential area with a waterside location alongside the Duke of Northumberland's River. However a total refurbishment in 2014 saw the removal of the traditional dark wood partitions and all the former landlord's memorabilia, and the opening up of table-service dining areas and it is now marketed as a Pub & Dining House. It has a normally tranquil riverside patio with smokers' area. Locally-sourced food is served all day table bookings are strongly recommended particularly on major Twickenham rugby days; as the pub is only seven minutes’ walk from the Stadium by a public footpath opposite through Mogden Water Works. On other days function bookings are welcome. Quiz night Sundays from 8pm in the Dining Room.

Overall a fantastic cosy pub with excellent ambience and food! There are nice separate seating areas and 2 fireplaces as well as an outdoor seating area with heated booths. The food was absolutely delicious and piping hot. The service also was fantastic. Highly recommend to visit, and will definitely be back again for sure.

We booked early (it did get busy later). Staff were very friendly and we were shown to our table which had views of the small river running along side of the pub. A member of staff took our drinks /food order. The Sunday Lunch was epic. Very generous portions, well cooked and presented. The Roast pork was tender and melt in the mouth. When the plates arrived they were brimming over with roast meat, potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding and parsnips, and then they came with a dish of vegetables for us too. Almost too much, make sure you are hungry. Definitely recommend eating here and worth…

Excellent experience overall, ribeye steak melted in the mouth and the fries were especially nice. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

We were a family party of 7 and we were given a lovely room all to our self’s, we were even allowed to bring our dog. She was made to feel most welcome and the lovely waitress, Elizebeth brought her a welcoming bowl of water. The service was amazing, efficient, quick, welcoming and friendly. The food is extremely tasty and well presented, some lovely dishes and a choice for all from fussy, from young and old. The dishes were large and extremely good value, loved the roast trio of meats. Must be one of the best roast dinners around. Must mention the barmen, Liam who was so accommodating…

Very nice local pub to visit. Kind staff and good atmosphere. Nice beer garden near the river and also nice interior. As you can see from the photos, it's pet friendly.
