About Steam Packet
Polished riverside boozer with a covered balcony offering upscale pub grub & craft beers.
After previous incarnations the premises has now reverted back to its original 1870s name 'Steam Packet'. It reopened in July 2020 as part of the Brunning & Price restaurant group. The bar features a unique brass hand rail with mermaids fixings. There is a more private and cosy area towards the back of the pub, with an additional upstairs dining/drinking area and balcony over-looking the river. Directly opposite the pub and situated by the river wall are some tables and seats. The Thames walk foot path is close by and is a short walk from Kew Bridge Station and bus stops. NB. Due to the physical limitations of the building prams are not allowed inside at any time. Also, Strand on the Green is within a ULEZ.

Lovely little hidden gem by the water. Relaxed atmosphere great on a nice sunny afternoon/evening with an upstairs balcony overlooking the river. Been here twice and on both occasions the food did not disappoint! It was amazing! See pictures from our last visit where we had the following for Sunday Lunch alongside some drinks: - Halloumi fries - Red Pepper and Tomato Hummus, Pitta - Truffle Parmesan Fries 🌟 - Wild garlic and potato soup - Butternut squash, wild mushroom and lentil wellington served with veg, roast potatoes and gravy 🌟 Definitely recommend!

🚇 Gunnersbury 🍺 £6.00 Amstel The Steam Packet is located on the banks of the Thames, close to Kew Bridge in Chiswick. The nearest Tube is Gunnersbury, it’s a ten minute walk to get here. This pub was built in 1870 as The Steam Packet Hotel. The pub's name is derived from the steam launches which once docked at Kew Pier as part of the regular steam packet service up the river. This is a smartly decorated traditional pub that is set out over two floors. The main bar is on the ground floor and has a solid wood servery with a unique brass hand rail with mermaid fixings. The walls are…

Glorious location especially if you book a table on the first floor verandah. Priceless view of the river Thames. Nice area. Felt safe to meander after dark.

Great food and a great venue. I did find it a bit confusing at first on whether you sit anywhere, where the menus were and how you order as we were just pretty much ignored, but this may be normal if you sit outside for this venue. Gluten free options clearly marked on the menu and a huge range of drinks 🍸

I enjoyed the roast pork ribeye steak here for dinner. The service was great, tasty food and the views from the top floor were fantastic next to the Thames at sunset. Great pub food and I’m sure I’ll come back.
