About Surprise
Tucked away next to Larkhall Park, this small, down-to-earth, L-shaped local was refurbished in 2018 and now includes a conservatory extension to the side. It is the only building remaining from streets that were replaced by the park after WW2 bomb damage.
The back room walls display caricatures of regular customers, while the middle section has old photos of Battersea Power Station. Tuesday and Wednesday are poker nights, Sunday is for bingo. There is a petanque pitch next to the pub.
Pizzas are available to eat in or take away. There is a curry night on the last Friday of each month.
The pub sign portrays a surprised John Young, the late and legendary Chairman of the old Young's Brewery. The pub passed to Punch ownership in 2021.

My family have used the pub for years, when my dad passed we had his wake there. On Saturday we had my daughters graduation there, the staff are amazing, we had the function area, also there's a nice seating area outside. Can't say enough about the pub. Amazing. Really pleasant area, and we will definitely recommend this pub. Will be using again for any partys

Fantastic pub. Nicest pizzas we've had outside of Italy. Well kept beer. Friendly staff. Welcoming locals that made us feel like locals ourselves. Couldn't recommend the place higher. Lovely

Gorgeous pub tucked away by the park with the friendliest and super helpful staff. We held our son’s Christening party at the pub and the staff went out of their way to help us, including providing a delicious buffet which went down very well! Our guests remarked on how charming the pub was and lovely that it looks onto the local park. We had a fantastic celebration and that is so much down to how brilliant the pub was at hosting us. Thank you Sally, Lee and Team!

🚇 Nine Elms 🍺 £5.40 Madri ❤️ A fantastic cosy pub in a great location. . Tucked away next to Larkhall Park you will find The Surprise Pub. The nearest tube is Nine Elms which is an eight minute stroll to get here. . The pub was built in 1856 and was a Young’s pub for many years. This picturesque pub was refurbished back in 2018 and looks as pretty as a picture in its park setting. . This is a compact pub which is divided in to three sections plus an extension on the side. As you enter you walk into the main bar area which has a leather banquette and seating area on the right. If you make…

This pub is a little hidden Gem. Was in there yesterday while waiting for my Daughter to do her walk for Alzheimer’s , went back in after the walk as well and everyone so friendly. Lovely seating place outside. Staff are down to heart, have a chat, really lovely
