About Catford Bridge Tavern
A mock Tudor former Courage pub that rises up next to the bridge it is named after. Bare wooden floor with tiling around the bar counter. Mixture of high and low seating and a pool table in the front room. The rear room has padded bench seating and some raised booths and has an open-to-view kitchen. This pub was saved from permanent closure in 2012 following a strenuous local campaign and was named 2013 CAMRA South East London branch Pub of the Year while run by Antic Group. The pub closed again shortly thereafter, suffered serious fire damage to the upper floors in March 2015, then finally reopened at the end of March 2017 under new ownership. In June 2023 the pub was acquired by Portobello Brewery who subsequently reinstalled handpumps, the previous operator having removed them in 2021. Quiz night Wednesday.

Review of Catford Bridge Tavern Roast I love Catford Bridge Tavern as a local spot. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are always friendly and professional, which adds to the welcoming vibe of the place. Recently, we went for a roast and had a mixed experience. The pork was a bit of a letdown—the crackling wasn't crackling at all, and the skin was unfortunately soggy. The chicken was fine, but nothing special. The gravy was quite watery and lacked flavor, and the roast potatoes were dry and hard, which made them difficult to enjoy. On the positive side, the cauliflower cheese was…

Love this place. My local pub, thankfully. John and team are wonderful. Always friendly, they’ve breathed new life into the pub. In winter the fires are going, the red wine and roasts are perfect and the desserts are 👌🏼 Thank you guys!

We visited this pub quite a few times and both under the old and new management, we've had no complaints. Under the new management, for general pub standards, the food is quite varied and the place seems to be a bit busier, and with a tad younger crowd. The place seems to be more animated and lively too. During the latest visit we've had good cheeseburgers and a great sticky toffee pudding. The food is above general pub quality and the service, quite quick. I'm glad the place has a bew lease of life as a while ago it seemed that it wouldn't survive for much longer.

Been coming to this pub since it was The Copperfield and then all its reincarnations with all its different kitchens. Just had lunch there in the sunny terrace and I can say that was the best food I ever had at the Catford Bridge Tavern. Both the beef and chicken burgers were generous and very well cooked and served, lovely chips too. Excellent service from all the staff. Glad I can finally recommend this local!

Unfortunately the food here is to avoid. We ordered flat iron steak medium - arrived well done.. I was offered they do it again, but sadly had to wait over 20 minutes. Once the new steak arrived, it was yet again not medium and tasted burnt. What was worse, every single bite had lots of veins, making this practically uneatable dish.. Also, it was meant to come with a watercress salad- it came with parsley leafs and no seasoning .. Super disappointed costed £17.50 and I couldn’t even eat it.. My friend had linguine prawn and chorizo pasta for £16, it sadly looked bad, super blant and pasta was…
