About Change of Horses
Formerly a coaching inn where the horses were changed on the London to Hastings coach route, the pub is situated in the attractive village of Farnborough, but is also very convenient for the main A21. The interior is spacious, and includes an attached function room/restaurant, whilst the garden is one of the most pleasant in the borough. The pub closed for refurbishment in 2019, and reopened under new management in December of that year.
In addition to the two permanent cask beers, seasonal ales are occasionally available.
The pub is a hub of the local village, and operates a coffee morning on Tuesdays from 10.30am onwards. It also operates a book exchange club. Along with the regular food offerings, there is also a Thai food evening beginning at 6.30pm every Wednesday.
A variety of special events are hosted. Visitors are recommended to check the pub's active Facebook page (linked to above) for the most up-to-date information.
The London LOOP trail passes nearby providing a convenient stopping point for walkers.

Finished my walk in Farnborough Village and really glad I stumbled upon this traditional public house. Professional & friendly bar staff. Clean interior. Real ale was kept in excellent condition. Competitive prices. Would definitely visit again.

Our Sunday walk and photography ended abruptly with loud thunder as we walked through St Giles churchyard. So we dashed to the pub expecting to only get drinks and crisps. I haven't been in the change of horses for a very long time and didn't know they do Sunday lunch! So having lunch was a lovely surprise, a great atmosphere in the pub and fantastic service. I had the fish goujon baguette - very fresh and delicious crispy fish. My daughter really enjoyed a large chicken Caesar salad. Will try to find out what the food service times are and come back.

This was the first pub, as an individual, I went to in 1981. I believe it's been through a few managers since then. It's a lovely pub inside, full of character and has a decent garden, for those wishing to be outside. It also has a function room you can hire. I have been back several times on the last year. The staff are generally very polite but they could do with a uniform or code of dress, as some of the women dress as though they are working at Kings Cross, if you get what I mean? The food can be hit and miss also. I've had a fabulous meal there and a not so good meal. Maybe there were…

Friendly and good quick service. The music is not too loud which is often what ruins a pub! Could possibly be a few more cosy soft/ armchairs, but it's my local and I like it!

Went on a live music day. Good venue. The lager was good. Couldn't really fault it. They had set up an outside bar which worked well. Would return.
