Historic town centre pub with origins back to the 16th century. The walls carry pictures of mainly local scenes, some of which are of historic Croydon locations. Very good Young's pub in an early C18 building about 10 minutes walk from East Croydon station. Three cask beers - and one cider - on handpump when I visited. Lots of outdoor seating in the large garden to the rear, some of it covered. The pub which is Grade-II listed has an interesting frontage with very nice stained glass windows. The bar area has some lovely old oak floorboards.

Fantastic beer garden and really friendly staff . The only downside is the price of everything. I think they have out priced themselves..£17.50 for a burger with no chips is just not justified in my opinion. £5.80 for a bottle of sol . You can get better value in central London

Nice pub. Inside and out. Very nice beer garden in the back. Little gem considering its Croydon. Plenty of room. Food looks decent though I didn't try it. The beer is expensive though and considering its a standard pub not a craft bar or anything it's expensive. Neck oil 7.10. That really is steep. I didn't see prices of others but assume they're not much cheaper. This wasn't a special beer either this is just pm tap like normal. Really think you should reduce the prices a bit. Over 7£ for a beer now seems the norm in Central London but this is zone 5...

Brilliant 'olde worlde' pub with friendly, knowledgeable staff & great surroundings. Such a relaxing place full of interesting memorabilia and a really nice feel to it, could've stayed all night.....this is how pubs should be !! Will definitely return when next in Croydon. Many thanks

terrible pub. A rude man with an earring in his ear. Disrespectful attitude towards guests. It feels like I came to his house, not to the pub where HE WORKS. If you don't like your job, quit and spoil people's mood and evening. p.s. I will contact the management
