About Drayton Arms
Bright and stylish local with a menu of British gastropub dishes and a fringe theatre upstairs.
Grade II listed ornate terra cotta faced pub with two Jacobean-style frontages, first licensed in 1847 and rebuilt in 1891-2 by the firm of Gordon Lowther & Gunton. Dark wood panelled bar with large windows and high ceiling. Some etched glass remains and some Biba-style decoration in the upper parts of the windows. Smart, soft lighting. In the small area at the back (originally a separate room) there is an interesting Classical fireplace which may be modern. Elegant corridor with ironwork entrance and large mirror bearing heraldic arms, presumably of the Drayton family. There is an upstairs 50-seat fringe theatre showing mainly comedy and cabaret. Small outside tabled area off the pavement with heaters. At least two cask ales should be available and a wide food menu includes Sunday roasts.

Architecturally stunning Grade-II listed pub not far from Gloucester Road Station. No cask beer on handpump when I visited! Plenty of outdoor seating some of it covered.

What a wonderful pub. The decor is traditional and elegant. Sunday roast was delicious and abundant. Staff extremely friendly and so kind. Unique atmosphere with clientele from young to regulars that have been going there for 50yrs. I am really excited to check out the Theatre upstairs. And a bit of trivia, did you know playwright and author Maureen Duffy used to be a regular!

Stopped off for a quick pub lunch when I was early for a local appointment. I arrived just at the start of lunchtime and the pub was quiet. I wanted a quick bite so ordered from their sandwich menu and this consisted of the choice of several sandwiches/ wraps etc and a range of non alcoholic drinks. I ordered the Korean chicken wrap, which was very tasty and came with the choice of a side salad or fries. Friendly team Good food Prompt service Good value for money Highly recommended

We had such a great time here! The food was delicious and we had prompt service from a friendly staff. The show was ‘Beowulf and Grendel’ and we thoroughly enjoyed it! With simply the text from the first third of the epic poem, a single actor brought it to life. Thank you for a great evening!
