About Duchess of Kent

Modern gastropub featuring dove grey walls and vintage furnishings, with colourful art and trinkets.

With the general devastation of pubs in N7, it's good to see one outlet still flying the flag at the corner with Ellington Street. It has received the standard North London makeover - large, mixed size scrubbed tables, comfy chairs, board games and books and a liberal use of candles. There is a TV but volume is used sparingly for large, national sporting events. Being close to the Emirates stadium it can get busy when Arsenal are at home. On those days the pub will have an outside BBQ and unique bar snacks such as balti pasties. Quiz nights Monday and food nights also held, such as Wednesday pie nights, and cheese and beer tastings, see website for detail. Full meals are served Mon to Fri 12.00-15.00 and Sat/Sun 12.00-16.00 and evenings 18.00-22.00 with full table service. There is a snack menu. It still retains a number of original features although a lot has gone to create the L shaped open space. Cask Marque accreditation achieved March 2008.

The pub is looking so beautiful since its refurb. Visited and sat outside on one of their benches in the sunshine and could have stayed forever. Service was fantastic from start to finish and food was delicious. I had loads of picky bits to share with friends and it went down a treat. Would recommend and looking forward to coming back for a delicious Sunday roast.

Lovely pub! Decent veggie burger (it’s fake meat based, like an impossible burger), nice aperol, great atmosphere, and nice staff! Great for sports watching. A bit on the pricier end

🚇 Highbury & Islington 🍺 £6.05 Pravha A Welcoming and Stylish Backstreet Local. The Duchess of Kent is situated on a corner at the end of a Victorian terrace on the border between Lower Holloway and Barnsbury in Islington. The nearest Tube is Highbury & Islington, it’s a five minute walk to get here. The pub was built in 1843 and is Grade II listed. The pub is named after H.R.H. Victoria Mary Louisa, Duchess of Kent, Queen Victoria’s mother. This is a good size pub that is set out in an ‘L’ shape and has a modern contemporary feel. The servery is clad in solid wood panels and is…

Very nice food, great selection of beers and excellent service. We enjoyed the atmosphere and appreciate the attention of the staff, especially Anicka. This is the place to go when you're around.

Lovely place with comfy atmosphere, great choice of beers. Sunday roast was good apart from the gravy which was more like a broth soup. Definitely should be served on the side as it dilutes the flavours of the food and soggs up the food on the plate.
