About East India Arms

Intimate, long-standing drinking haunt owned by the Shepherd Neame Brewery.

This small Shepherd Neame close to Fenchurch Street station is a grade II listed red brick building dating from the 1820's. One of only two pubs recalling the East India Company. Originally two bars now one bar with bare wooden floors and half walled wooden paneling along with framed old photographs. Can get very busy with office workers and tourist, which spill out onto the pavement. An award winning pub for the service of its beers.

A time capsule of pub beauty. City of London, end of row, corner pub with a long history. Heritage external signage & decorative town house style with loads of pavement street drinking. Inside a well proportioned drinking space around a well loved in core bar. Decorative glass panels lead up to the vintage painted mirror pub & brewery promotional bar head, topped with books & bottles. Vintage glass drop lights illuminate wall adorned with the images & branding of this historic pub & one of London's oldest breweries. There's a low buzz of old colleagues, a high screen of sport & relaxing…

So many of these London pubs are steeped in history and are closely associated with London's East India trade. 🇮🇳 This is a traditional London pub, small but with a great atmosphere built by city workers, most of whom will be returning home via London's Fenchurch Street Station. It is special to immerse yourself in the docor and appreciate the photos and posters on the wall that provide an intriguing insight into its past. I have invariably found the staff here welcoming and efficient, and as I sit here on a cold winter's day, I am grateful to experience such warmth, tradition, and history.

East India Arms is a charming historic pub near Fenchurch Street station. It offers a great selection of cask ales and friendly, efficient service. It's a no-frills establishment with a focus on drinks and conversation, perfect for a post-work pint or a casual meet-up. While it lacks food options, the atmosphere and history make it a worthwhile visit.

The East India Arms is believed to have been established in the 19th century, although the exact date of its founding is unclear. The pub's name reflects its proximity to the former headquarters of the British East India Company, which was located nearby. Architectural. Like many traditional English pubs, the East India Arms features classic pub architecture, including a cozy interior, wooden furnishings, and a welcoming atmosphere. Its historic charm and character make it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Oh, they also have great beer :-)
