About Five Bells

Village pub with an English menu, a large beer garden and quizzes/open-mic nights in the evenings.

Situated in an unspoilt country village, this welcoming pub is a popular focal point for the village community. Re-opened on 14th September 2024 under new management.

The current Grade II listed building dates from the 18th C and is part weather-boarded and part tile hung. The interior layout is relatively unchanged with separate entrances for the two areas. Various changes were made in both the 1930s and 1960s but the pub still retains plenty of character.

The R7 bus service from Chislehurst via Bickley, Petts Wood and Orpington now runs half-hourly for most of the day. The pub is located very close to junction 4 of the M25 - but just far enough away to avoid any motorway noise, allowing it to retain its rural feel.

The large garden includes a play area for children.

Note that closing times may vary according to the time of year.

Listed under both the CAMRA Pub Heritage Group and London Pubs Group (on their London Local Inventory) as having an interior of special national historic interest (* 1-star).

Local CAMRA Pub of the Year for 2010.

You never know what to expect when you order a fish burger, but if you want beer battered cod in a brioche bun with tomato, lettuce, and tartare sauce, served with chips, then you won't be disappointed. Good sized piece of fish and although the menu said skinny fries, mine came with fat chips which were really good and I got a side of onion rings, crispy and not oily. £23.30 for the food and a pint, and worth the money. Nice atmosphere, obviously a local pub but very welcoming for 'outsiders' such as myself. Within 10 minutes walk of the hospital, so if you are visiting someone there it's a…

Last time I went to this pub the previous owners were still there… went back to the pub today, the new owners have changed it for the better, lovely amount of seating area. The pub is so much lighter now, more lights, old pictures on the wall of the area which is a bonus. Friendly staff and the owners are very friendly and welcoming! Definitely will be coming back as this is my local! I love the decor.

Omg what can I say a massive thank you to Sam and all the staff .mother's day meal was amazing . So much choice .there was plenty of it and it was hot . The pudding also was amazing . I definitely recommend eating here especially the roast dinners . I had fish pie . And rhubarb crumble with custard 10/10 . The staff are very helpful polite there was mother's day colouring in pictures for young and old . Will definitely be returning and recommending it to my family friends 😄

Popped in to see how the pub is under new management. Such a transformation. Caroline & Chris were so welcoming and the new decor was very appealing both inside & in the garden. Good choice of beers & lagers. Food still to be tried. Only sampled a sharing plate with our drinks. Various events publicised. Steak night & bingo plus live music. Hope our local goes from strength to strength. We will be back.

This is an old pub with a good "Sunday drinkers" clientele. There were a lot of very young children in the bar most playing games under the tables but the noise level was very high. Unfortunately we had to have a table in the busy bar as there is no disabled access. Food was ok but not outstanding, mostly we had the Sunday roast.
