About Freemasons Arms

Gastropub serving Modern British and Mediterranean dishes in a skylit conservatory dining room.

Roomy gastro-pub, offering starters, salads, pizzas, pastas, mains and desserts, along with extensive wine list. Very popular with young professionals, it seems. interior still retains some nice features, such as fireplaces, but mainly dominated by track lighting, soft music, upholstered banquettes, wooden tables and chairs, along with recent extension to dining area (which sacrificed garden space in a less than aesthetic manner).

The still-large garden was allegedly the site of 17th century games of Pell-Mell (a Dutch ball game which gave its name to Pall Mall), though the pub is first recorded in 1820. There is the Hampstead Room below, which can be rented for private use.

Its unique feature lies in the basement, a full size "old English" or "London" skittle alley, one of only two in the capital (also prone to flooding from time to time, as the pub sits above a tributary of the River Fleet). More of a dining than a drinking destination. Listed as an Asset of Community Value in Sept 2016.

The food here is fantastic. I would point out that the meal arrived warm and just lovely. The sticky chicken and squid were super delicious. 🚨 🚽 downstairs, clean and spacious. Major issue is the smell, which just requires more frequent flushing and cleaning. Otherwise pretty clean. I also didn’t see a change table in the men’s room, despite being a family friendly establishment. Suspect in the women’s(?).

A wonderful pub in a perfect location. We came early for a drink after a walk on the heath and sat in the charming garden area. I have visited in the past for my friend’s birthday and the food was delicious. A fabulous setting for a casual drink/meal or for an occasion and event. I will certainly be returning.

We stumbled apon this pub after a walk, and we were so pleased! Food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Our server was Corey and he couldn’t have been kinder. Would definitely recommend.

Food was DISGUSTING and extremely OVER PRICED. Two people, one starter 2 glasses of wine and a bowl of pasta was nearly £70!!! My friend ordered a chicken burger which was hard and the one slice of lettuce was old. This was sent back HOWEVER, it's a nice pub and you can't go wrong with a drink, even if it's £13 for a large glass of wine. And the staff were wonderful. Especially Harris who was very attentive and helpful. It's because of him we will be back... for drinks only
