About King William IV

Traditional 200-year-old pub offering stylish rooms, plus modern British food & a garden.

This old coaching inn with a large central bar has been a stalwart of the gay scene for many years which has earned it the local nick-name of the Pink Willie. The entertainment is geared to the target audience and there is seating in a very pleasant back garden and outside on the street by a crepe stall (separately operated so don't bring crepes into the pub).

Essentially one room wrapped around a central bar but remnants of former room dividers help break the place up into several discrete areas. The closing hours Fri to Sun are described as "late bar".Listed as an ACV Nov 2015 following an application by the Hampstead Neighbourhood Forum.

Rock Group Whiskey Mick on Mondays, Piano Bar Sing-a-Long session on Thursdays and Cover Version Trio Bad Dog Bites on Fridays. Occasional live music some Saturdays. The pub also hosts bi-monthly charity fundraising events which are very well supported by customers and local businesses alike.

The walls are dedicated to the people of Hampstead with over 100 portraits throughout the pub walls with maximalist effect.

Although we did not stay in one of the rooms, we loved the Pub! They have a great selection of beer on draught and they have a very broad menu to suit every taste. The staff was very attentive. The atmosphere was fun and casual. The regulars were very welcoming and we had a great time! Can't wait to go back again soon.

Nice pub with reasonably priced rooms in a good location. Hot water in the shower was a bit hit-and-miss, but the furnishings were comfortable and there was a bus stop right downstairs! The area is lovely!

A fun location and room. What a shame they don't have enough attention to detail to provide water for guests - even though it is specifically mentioned in reviews. A cavalier attitude but the room was ok.

Food was dreadful and over priced My beef and ale stew was all fat it was inedible. One of my friends had an upset stomach the following day. Avoid the food!

Sunday Lunch on 30th June 2024 What a treat to enjoy Sunday lunch at the King William IV pub in Hampstead. The bar staff made us very welcome and drinks were quickly produced. The Sunday roast, pork loin in my case, was perfectly cooked and presented, the portion size enormous. My wife Barbara chose the spare ribs and was equally impressed. We cleared our plates and just about had room left for desserts. Again, fantastic presentation and ample portions, chocolate sponge cake with vanilla ice cream for me, apple pie with ice cream for Barbara. An extra bonus was a lovely chat with the pub…
