About Grazing Goat

Spacious gastropub with contemporary country house-style interior, for traditional British cuisine.

Built in 1776, this is the oldest surviving pub in Marylebone. It was once a small terrace pub hidden in a sidestreet, but is now promoted more as an up-market gastropub with boutique hotel set over six floors! Breakfast, lunch & dinner are available, and roasts on Sundays. Sister establishment to the Thomas Cubitt in Belgravia, the Orange in Pimlico and the Alfred Tennyson in Knightsbridge.

It is entirely possible to just have a drink without eating here. But note that as per usual, alcohol cannot be served before noon on Sunday or 10am on other days.

The grazing goat is close to where we live, we come mainly for drinks which we love but not often for dinner and whenever we do it’s a little disappointing. I prefix this by saying it’s a great pub for the ambience, beautiful interior and super friendly and efficient staff however the food is a mixed bag…our rib eye steak was delicious but the duck was a bit tough and lacking flavour and the single scallop for £11.50 is getting to silly prices even for Marylebone. The menu feels generally overpriced for what you get and at the current quality we won’t be rushing back.

We stayed at the hotel for six days, and this review is strictly about the hotel experience. I think the hotel has high potential to become an excellent option to stay in London, especially given the great location and the generally nice rooms, if a few issues would be addressed. First, there is very little service provided (the pub people are in charge of providing services to hotel guests, but their priority is clearly to deal with the busy pub). Second, there is no attempt to integrate the hotel business with the pub. Since the pub serves breakfast, offering breakfast as part of the hotel…

The food was really good. I had the shin and side of potatoes, and the flavors were nice. The service was spot on and the atmosphere was friendly and busy. The desserts looked amazing but I didn’t have any room left to enjoy one. I only had lunch here, but I am sure the rooms would be nice. Will definitely return when I am back in town, thank you!

Ended up here for brunch as the place we intended to go to was really busy. We sat outside. Service was excellent as was the slightly quirky menu - two of us had pancakes and the third the full breakfast. The location is great - about five minutes walk from the top of Oxford Street/Hyde Park.

I went here for a surprise birthday party. I should add, I wasn't surprised because it wasn't my birthday but I was very impressed. The venue is excellent and served delicious food and wine. I'm not sure if we were eating from the normal menu but everything was first class from the ingredients to the preparation to the serving. This is a top eatery and I would highly recommend it.
