Henry Addington, Canary Wharf

About Henry Addington

Pub named after the British Prime Minister and, at one time, doctor to King George III.

One of M&B's Nicholson pubs, named after the Prime Minister (1801-4) who allowed the original Canary Wharf docks to be built. Located in a dockside unit of one of the huge modern office blocks. Spacious, with a long bar, plenty of comfortable seating, waiter service in a raised and railed area behind to the left. Very popular at lunchtimes and after work.

Great location, by the river and great view of the city. Indoor and outdoor tables. Fish and chips were so good, the staff wasn't friendly and didn't know why they don't have Sunday roast on Sunday which was promoted in their page! Drinks were good, decent price.

The bar atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were friendly. The fish and chips were well-prepared, but the schnitzel was one of the worst I’ve ever had. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said he would inform the manager, but the manager never came to the table. It seems the reason might be because payment was taken upfront during the order. A bad schnitzel is one thing, but a manager who doesn’t care about customers is even worse.

Good Nicholson's pub less than five minutes walk from Canary Wharf Underground Station. Six cask beers on handpump when I visited. Lots of outdoor seating overlooking Middle Dock some of it covered. The pub is named after the Prime Minister (1801-4) who allowed the original Canary Wharf docks to be built.

This historical pub has been here for a long time. With great selection of food and drink there's enough for everyone. Beer: on tap they have over 10 beers local and foreign. Something for everyone. Food: big menu and really nice pies. Had a brisket pie which was covered in gravy. Big portion size and full of flavour. If you want some local food this place is where you want to go.
