About Hercules

Neighbourhood hangout with classic pub fare, plus live weekend music & sports on TVs.

29/12/23 - report from a visitor, "Hand pump clips turned round when visited. One of the pump clips was Timothy Taylor Landlord."

Aug 2022 - this pub is now open after its recent makeover. "I had a look inside but as it was mid-morning I did not follow the example of a few punters and get a drink. Had I done so, and wanted cask, I could have chosen between Timothy Taylor Landlord and Five Points XPA."

July 2022 - We understand that it has had a comprehensive refurbishment, preceding what will be a grand re-opening and a reversion to its old name (minus the word 'Tavern').

When this pub changed its name to Tommy Flynns (thenjust Flynns) it counted as a pub converting to real ale. It had had a handpump which had not been used for many years brought back into use. but that did not last. The former name - Hercules is pretty permanent signage, you'd make a mess removing it!

I was here at 4.30 pm on a Monday and there was a few customers around. This is a large, bright pub with lots of seating. Prices are very good, I paid £9.60 for a Neck Oil and a Fosters. They do have live music at weekends. I did see a Sunday lunch menu but have never eaten here. They also have an exterior seating area. It can get somewhat busy when Arsenal are playing at home. In summary a very nice pub that I recommend for a visit.

I had Sunday lunch yesterday after dissatisfaction with other venues and was very impressed with the quality and service. The food was hot, tasty and very good proportion as well as value for money. I would strongly recommend this establishment and intend to visit again. I prefer the mash potato on the side and not covered by the meat, the broccoli was too aldenti, just a suggestion. Thank you for a very enjoyable Sunday lunch. I would also suggest thicker meat portions to saviour the flavour as opposed to more thin cut meat. Looking forward to bringing people next time.

Well my second pub at London. I went on a Wednesday when it was quieter. On Friday, the house was full of people. Elvis, someone's 30th birthday and of course football and food. Great feeling.

Wow !! Amazing. My husband had the lamb roast and it was tender and juicy. I had the children’s chicken roast and it was Devine. And staff are super accommodating as I cannot eat a quarter of my dinner gave me a box to take it home. The chicken was full of flavour and all home cooked. My husband had sticky toffee pudding and it was presented nice and he thoroughly enjoyed it First time in and we will be back. Staff super friendly.

The Hercules, on the corner of Holloway Road and Hercules Street is a fabulous independent pub offering a warm welcome to all that enter. Plenty of keg beers available. I didn't see any cask ales on my visit although there were two pumps hidden behind a clipboard menu. A beautiful interior with an abundance of wood panelling and a very laid back feeling about the place. Service was super, a great place to drink and eat.
