About Lore of the Land

Seasonal sharing plates, pints and premium spirits in a classic setting housing a pub since 1829.

Oct 2024 - the Gritchie Brewing Company has ceased brewing and will close when stocks run out. We have therefore removed the listing for the 2 Gritchie beers - we await to hear what has taken their place.

Reopened February 2019 by the British film director Guy Ritchie. The pub had featured two cask and one or two keg beers from Gritchie Brewing Company’s 20bbl brewery at Ashgrove Farm located on the Wiltshire/Dorset border. In addition you will find Paulaner Munich Hells, Keller Pils - Lost & Grounded and Delirium Tremens - Huyghe a 7.5% Belgian Strong Pale Ale.

Delightful small independent pub just off Fitzroy Square and close to the base of the BT Tower. The building dates back to the late 1700s, and since 1829 has been a pub. Per the Evening Standard, "it boasts dark turquoise walls, time-worn wood panelling, and an eclectic jumble of artworks, giving it the cosseting allure of a trademark London boozer. "

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Lore of the Land, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Here are the top three highlights of my visit: Cher’s Exceptional Service: Cher was incredibly hospitable and friendly, making me feel right at home. Her professionalism and warm demeanor truly enhanced my dining experience. Because of her, this establishment isn’t just a place with great food, but also exceptional service that makes you feel at home in a professional setting. Modern and Traditional Atmosphere: The ambiance at The Lore of the Land perfectly blends modern…

Definitely would recommend booking here for their Sunday roasts. We had a reservation booked since March and it was certainly worth the wait. The quality of the food was exceptional and the perfect portions and the staff were so accommodating and friendly! Definitely would recommend for an indulgent roast dinner treat and the Lore doughnut is a must, so save room for pudding. I would recommend and return in a heart beat. Thank you so much!

A fantastic dinner. Memorable. The staff were so friendly. The food was delightful. I had the braised lamb and my wife had the corn risotto. The barata was fantastic. All of their items are clearly labeled if you have dietary restrictions. They were very diligent about allergies.

Lovely meal out for my boyfriends birthday. Fantastic service. Especially as I have a dietary requirement, the staff knew all dishes and what was in them. Great Saturday night atmosphere and cheeky celeb spot! Thanks Suzy & Ben

Every dish we ordered was phenomenal, from the popcorn and cod starters to the main dishes and dessert! The service was exceptional and the music was the perfect vibe for the night. Highly recommend making a reservation here for date night or another special occasion! Can’t wait to come back :)
