About Lyric
Victorian pub with wood panelling, a fireplace and etched glass, for real ales and home-cooked food.
Small pub just off Shaftesbury Avenue, very popular with the local trade. Bay fronted with a tiled panelled interior, it was originally two adjacent taverns, the Windmill and the Ham which were merged in the mid 18th century to form the Windmill & Ham. The pub was renamed in 1890 and rebuilt sixteen years later.
As well as up to ten cask ales and two or three ciders on handpump, the pub has over 20 craft keg/keykeg beer and cider taps on the bar-back plus bottled beers and the array of beers here has been described as "beyond excellence, verging on the exemplary". As is often the case, customers wishing to drink outside will have to stand and settle for plastic glasses. Food is of the traditional pub grub variety but does normally include a Christmas Day menu; you don't have to eat turkey! See venue website for weekly food offers.
This is an unusually authentic "real pub" for one so close to the traditional heart of London at Piccadilly Circus, and for all beer drinkers, cask ale fans or not, there are often some unusual beers to be found and enjoyed.
Note that the Morgan Pub Collective has gift card offers, see venue website.

A crowded Wednesday afternoon, The lyric is lively and welcoming. Be prepared for an eclectic choice of beers both from the Cask (a Bakers dozen of taps on the bar) and keg (run out of fingers!) Lovely knowledgeable staff offering great service. Lots of laughter and plenty of nectar going down. A super place for a pint.

We stopped here today while exploring the area, initially just for drinks. However, we decided to try their Sunday roast, and it turned out to be an excellent decision! We opted for the Sharing Roast, with three meat option, and chose pork belly, ribeye, and chicken. Each meat was cooked to perfection, tender, and flavorful, making for an unforgettable meal. The portion sizes were incredibly generous, ensuring everyone left the table satisfied. The accompanying vegetables were tasty and perfectly cooked, complementing the meats beautifully. The Yorkshire pudding was a highlight—deliciously…

The best fish and chips in the area. And for that matter we had an incredible roast there once a couple of years ago, so if you are there on a Sunday make sure to check it out. Our fish was full of flavour. The coating flavoursome and the texture wonderful and flaky. The only problem they have a venting issue in the kitchen and the window in the hall needed to stay open so being Easter it was pretty cold ( I kept me coat on)

I like this pub in Soho and just a stones throw from Piccadilly Circus. The service was excellent despite it being busy for a Tuesday afternoon. They have an excellent collection of drinks, 7 cask ales, 3 cask ciders and 20 keg beers and ciders. They also have around 25 whiskies and I opted for a double Makers Mark which was reasonably priced at £9.60. They have an upstairs dining room, usual pub fare, burgers etc. Watch out for their daily specials eg on Mondays a burger, chips and a drink for £16.95.

Service and atmosphere are great. Food quality is left to be desired though. The chicken wings were a bit overcooked.
