About Mayflower
Thames-side pub with small bar, upstairs restaurant and tables on wooden deck overlooking the river.
This nautical themed pub celebrates the Mayflower ship which set sail from the nearby landing steps for historic journey to New England carrying the Pilgrim Fathers in 1620. The pub boasts six handpumps with five regularly changing ales plus a regular appropriately named house beer ‘Scurvy’. Good food is available lunchtimes and evening. At the rear is a fantastic wooden jetty above the Thames from where the Mayflower set sail.
A popular pub for the tourist trail and is the only pub licensed to sell US & UK postage stamps in the UK (not always available).
The interior is in the style of a 17th-century tavern and it is very easy to forget you are not in the age of sail, as the walls are adorned with various nautical objects and documents. However, the interior is in fact a more recent makeover which does unfortunately hide its genuinely old features. The upstairs restaurant has an ambience of fine dining. Operated by The Black Dog Pub Company, established 2013, whose other pubs are The Prince Of Wales, Kennington and Leadbelly's at nearby Canada Water. Originally ‘The Shippe’, when it opened in 1780, this charming riverside pub was renamed the Mayflower in 1958 after the ship which left from here for America carrying the Pilgrim Fathers.
Real cider may be sold sometimes in summer. Ale pints always served in jugs unless you specify otherwise.

We have enjoyed a Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Both the roast chicken and roast beef were cooked to perfection, vegetables still crunchy, and the Yorkshire pudding and gravy it was to die for. We have finished it with a creme brule. The Italian waiter was helpful and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. We will definitely go back.

A stunning pub, so beautiful and old! The food is not cheap but totally worth it, we have tried starters, mains, Sunday roasts, desserts, they were all delicious! The service is personal but not overbearing, kudos to Erika for being a stellar professional

Amazing staff, you can even say fabulous. Food was awesome and on point... Scotch eggs were perfect. Great historical value as an American as parts of the disassembled mayflower were used to build part of the deck area. 💯 Worth the visit. The locals and staff are extremely nice and accommodating.

Old world building and British pub off the path a bit but well worth the effort. Great food, beer and wait staff. We ate out the back, no reservations needed, where you can watch and hear the Thames while you eat. Can’t recommend enough

Love the interior of the pub - so much portraits and history. Vibe at the outdoor seating (summer vibes) and second floor (cosy intimate) were amazing in their own ways. Had their roasted sirloin Sunday roast - well roasted. Sticky toffee date pudding was a classic to end off the meal. Shoutout to their thick pint of Guinness - probably one of my best in London!
