About Pembroke Castle

Spacious, traditional tavern featuring familiar pub fare & draught beer, plus a terrace.

Featuring predominantly white walls, bare boards, wooden tables with a mixture of hard chairs and low soft ones, there's a large standing area near the bar with a few stools in that area. The large plain glass windows make the place light and airy during daylight hours, the lighting is soft when darkness falls.

There is a good-sized outside drinking area with heating. Upstairs function room is available for hire. Food such as burgers and similar pub fayre served until 22.00. In 2014 the pub reopened having undergone some much needed renovation. Although the drinks' department is utterly unchanged, the original full name of the Pembroke Castle has been reinstated (fascias and sign) though this has yet to be reflected on the pub's website. Chalk Farm tube is around 5 mins walk.

Came on a busy Saturday afternoon. Had the sharing platter which was basic but satisfying a pint. The crowd at the time was a nice mix of families and younger people. A nice change of pace if you don't want to go into the deep end of Camden market. The beer garden is cozy but well decorated and places together. We wanted to try the picnic menu but it has to be booked 2 days in advance so keep that in mind. Otherwise, we were satisfied with what we ordered and the staff were friendly

The Pembroke is easily my favourite pub in Primrose Hill. The staff are really friendly and always greet you with a smile, and work well together as a team. There is a great selection of beers and ales on tap, along with a wide variety of spirits. The food is lovely and I particularly recommend the pies - both the steak and venison and chicken and pancetta pies are delicious. The beer garden is a great sun spot and they welcome dogs. I would recommend this pub to anyone visiting the area. Keep up all the great work Pembroke Team

Came to the Pembroke Castle in Primrose hill on a rainy grim Sunday. I was met with unmatched service by Anna and unbelievable food! The roast was amazing and the drip on tap was beautiful. Will definitely be back soon.

Love this pub, have been coming here since I was a kid. Unfortunately the Sunday roast was a bit of a let down. I had the triple roast and ordered extra sides such cauliflower cheese and braised cabbage. The roast itself came with 3 tiny pieces of each meat - turkey, beef and pork. The roast potato’s were more lightly cooked than roasted. The stuffing was dry and the mash potato was solid. The cauliflower cheese looked like it was just normal cooked cauliflower with a sprinkle of grated cheese on top and shoved in the oven. The braised cabbage was ok - the apple was a little overpowering…

The food is quite good for a pub and I highly recommend the burgers. The service is what brings me in though. They have a very good team and most will take the time to get to know you better. And during good weather, the outdoor patio is perfect and certainly one of the best in the area. But again, it's the service that brings me back. Great team and management.
