Roebuck, Hampton Hill

About Roebuck

Comfortable single bar Victorian ‘Free House’ with partitioned seating areas and carpeted throughout. Owned by an inveterate collector – obvious from the décor. Look beyond the wickerwork Harley Davidson, fishing rods, flying boats and real miniature steam locomotive for the collections of smaller items, Henry Cooper’s boxing glove, vintage fruit machines. Also worth noticing, are the four hand-made wooden handpumps on the bar with nicely polished brass-work. There is a real fire that never goes out in winter. The walled back garden has a covered gazebo for smokers and there is a garden room (available for hire) for cooler evenings. There are usually two guest beers that are changed regularly.

You won’t find many pubs like this one around. The Roebuck is the place you want to go during a cosy winter night or for a peaceful summer reading. For an intimate chat or just on your own for a some me time. It’s cosy, warm quirky and the back garden complete a real treasure that hopefully will be there still for a long time. And the sweet Linda at the bar is the perfect star of this incredibly story.

A hidden gem, full of character, friendly locals and great beer at very reasonable prices.

There's always an apprehension whenever you see a pub proclaiming to be a "Free House", you're not quite sure what you're walking into. You hope for a variety of independent beers, a uniqueness, not bound down by the identikit pub chains - too often are you met with call centre meeting room aesthetics and Doom Bar. I'd be lying if I didn't have a slight feeling walking up to this one that I'd be in for the same. The Roebuck is none of those things. A short walk from Fulwell station, somewhere between Twickenham and Teddington, sits this bright terracotta coloured corner pub in a sea of…

What a fantastic pub. Friendly, comfortable, quirky. Thank you KT for your nice welcome. The garden is a little oasis. Beautifully looked after. I love it.

Nice pub in lovely setting with good beer. £10 for a pint of ale and half a lager a bit strong though
