About Roebuck
Traditional grub and brews served in a laid-back hilltop pub offering views of the Thames.
Perched atop Richmond Hill and dating from Georgian times it commands the famous vista painted by J.M.W. Turner over Petersham Meadows and River Thames. Reopened in January 2024 after a comprehensive and beautifully implemented four-month renovation. Inside, there are a number of comfortable secluded areas includeing a cosy corner with a log fire. Three Guest beers are on constant rotation. Upstairs is the Turner Room for private dining and a Functions Room with bar. Patrons are welcome on the terrace opposite across the road (plastic glasses provided) to enjoy the view. The 25 mile view needs to be seen to be believed and has been protected by an act of parliament in 1902. On a clear day and with good eyesight Windsor Castle is said to be visible. The pub's picturesque location was featured in the film "The Hours", starring Nicole Kidman, and also played a starring role in a Sherlock Holmes movie production. Had an amazing experience here. I tried the soup, and it was absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. There’s also an excellent variety of wines to choose from, making it the perfect spot for anyone looking to enjoy a great meal paired with the right drink. Highly recommend!"

I visited for lunch on the last August bank holiday. They don’t take reservations on the day so we just walked there and found a table for 2. It’s a very chilled pub, not noisy and indeed many families with young children were there. The halibut fish was great, healthy, literally melting in my mouth. And also the beyond meat burger was good. I would definitely go back!

Lovely pub on Richmond Hill overlooking the Thames river and beautiful Richmond landscape! The staff were super friendly! Service was efficient. The food was delicious - the beef raclette pie had a lovely buttery crust. The panko chicken was fried nicely and well seasoned. Great selection of beer also!

I visited Roebuck Richmond Pub today, an old and vintage spot with a unique charm that really drew me in. Located with beautiful views of Richmond garden, the atmosphere is incredibly inviting. They offer a great variety of food and drinks, including some of the best cask ales I've ever had. What really stood out to me was the ability to take drinks out to the park—something I've never experienced in London before. With its lovely setting and excellent offerings, Roebuck Richmond Pub is a place I highly prefer to dine in with.

Food was really good though the starters are quite small portions. Kids Fish and Chips was a good size but a bit in the overdone side. Service wasn’t the best though it got better later on with different servers. Beautifully decorated and location with a view is really worth the visit.
