About Shirker's Rest
Micropub-style venue opened in early June 2022 in a former solicitor's office opposite Goldsmiths university. A joint venture between popular local bloggers Deserter and pop-up pub specialists Camberwell Shark. In addition to the ground floor bar, there is an upstairs drinking area, also hosting art exhibitions and other events showcasing local talent, plus a small outdoor seating area. 4 handpumps, usually 3 or 4 cask ales, including a house bitter from local brewers Anspach & Hobday, plus 7 craft keg beers on tap, wine and spirits. As well as bar snacks, the venue has a free delivery arrangement with a local pizzeria.
Card payment only here.

Very good micropub in a former solicitor's office about 5 minutes walk from New Cross Gate Station. Three cask beers on handpump when I visited. In addition to the ground floor bar, there is an upstairs drinking area, also hosting art exhibitions and other events showcasing local talent. A few tables outside at the front.

Finally made it to the third of the micro pubs on the post Lent list. Despite barman being on a break outside, he came straight in to serve us. Dark beer calling meant a pint of London Black and partner going for dark lager. The slab crisps were tried and would recommend. Second pint was a wildcard as I'd seen the Mead on the board. Where else could you get a Reaspberry Hibiscus Mead outside of a Rennisance fair. Great little bar and will visit again.

The Shirker's Rest in New Cross is a cozy micro pub that has quickly become a favorite among locals. Despite its small size, this pub boasts an impressive selection of local craft beers, catering to all tastes with rotating taps that highlight the best of the area’s brewing scene. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, thanks in large part to the friendly staff who are always ready with a recommendation or a chat. To top it all off, they offer a range of great beer snacks that perfectly complement their drink offerings. Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or just looking for a comfortable…

A fantastic little establishment focused on serving quality keg and cask beer. Their snack range is also strong with delights such as slab cut crisps . Service is always friendly and with a smile and if you're a fan of well kept ales then you can't go wrong here. They've developed quite the reputation and when you visit you can see why.
