About Spencer Arms
Home-style pub with modern-vintage decor, Chesterfield sofas and a British/Mediterranean menu.
Taken over by Market Taverns in summer 2023 and with 'Arms' returned to its name - it had originated as the Spencer Arms Hotel, a stage stop at the edge of Putney Common.
After a spell as the Putney Page from 2002 to 2005, the Spencer became an award winning dining pub, tastefully refurbished and attracting a smart, young clientele. One side is restaurant-style; the other is a comfortable lounge with sofas.
The TV is often silent; there is quiet background music and occasionally a jazz or blues singer.
The pub overlooks the Common.

Up to four local beers may be available. Surrey Hills Shere Drop and Wimbledon Common were good on 29 September 2023.

An unexpected pleasure on the walk back to Kew from Putney. Stopped in for a break and a pint and ended up at the picnic tables in the commons adjacent. I can’t speak of the food other than the smells and the envy as it passed by me to other hungry folk. The pub was clean, classically decorated and even had great natural light. Superb for outdoors in summers and cozy for indoors at winter. I had a pint that was warm and flat like I prefer and the staff was very helpful. Will stop again in the next walk and perhaps I’ll have a nibble as well.

I have known this pub was here for ages, but not actually been in until this summer. The location is great on the green with plenty of outside tables for a drink in the sun. The selection of beers available is good, and they offer plastic cups for you to he able to take drinks outside. I have yet to eat here, so I can not yet speak to the service and food, but the barstaff are always attentive and friendly.

Great wee find on our walk along the Thames tonight! Relaxing atmosphere, friendly and welcoming bar staff and great service overall, food was delicious with an amazing vegan salad and beautiful view along Putney Common

I have visited and eaten here for a few years now and love it. In the summer you can sit out in the Common. Staff are very welcoming and attentive, great menu, fab selection of wines, beers and spirits. I tend to visit early afternoon while it's quiet. I have noticed they have recently given it a bit of a makeover and a clear out, looks brighter and lighter. Such a relaxed environment defiently worth a visit.

Excellent pub opposite Putney Common bus terminus. Excellent selection of drinks and a food menu to suit all tastes. Only had small plates this time, but very nice.
