About Arab Boy

Innovative European dishes using seasonal produce are served in this casual but upmarket local pub.

Built in 1849, this pub was bequeathed by its builder, Henry Scarth, to Yussef Sirric, the Arab servant he had brought back from Turkey. A friendly, cosy, low ceilinged community pub with a piano at the back, with unobtrusive background music and TV sports, busy for big matches but quiet at other times. Small back patio. Originally a Watney pub, it was run by the Magic Pub Co briefly before Greene King took over in 1996. Taken over from Greene King since March 2016 by the owners of the Market Porter SE1 and the Wooden Hand Brewery in Truro.

Hidden Gem In Putney I recently visited The Arab Boy and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The atmosphere of the pub is cozy and welcoming, a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort. I ordered the fish and chips, and it was simply divine – crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside, just as it should be. To complement my meal, I enjoyed a pint of Guinness, which was perfectly poured and served cold. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure that everything was to my liking. (Re-reviewed* at end) Lovely little pub. Roast dinner on Sunday is yummy and the steak with chimichurri sauce is delicious. Looking forward to going back again and again. *Update Since they have now have new owners I've been back in September 2024 and unfortunately it's not the same, food quality isn't as good and price has gone up way too much and a service charge slapped on, though the only service was 2 plates of food brought to our table. Sunday roast was disappointing but we ate it due to being so hungry and paying so much. Fatty meat on child's plate and mine was swimming in gravy and…

Half the beer taps have been disconnected for over a week. Probably a deliberate ploy to sell expensive bottled beer. Staff working there are nice but the new owners are clearly incompetent at best.

Pretty pub and nice staff. Recommended for a drink. However the food service is not running very well... Some commands were missed and we got the meal after 1h. Also the Sunday roast portions were ridiculously small, definitely not worth 18 quid. In general food portions were not substantial, as usual in pubs, but seriously, avoid ordering a sunday roast if you are hungry. But the food quality is good. Recommended the flatbreads

First time visiting this little gem in the not so busy part of Putney high street. This place is small, cosy and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I have been meaning to come here for a while and glad I finally was close enough to do so. We were hungry and fancied a Sunday roast to my surprise I noticed they do offer it on Sundays between 12-8pm. We ordered the leg of lamb from the menu as our choice. X2 adult sizes and x2 children sizes. It was very well presented and looked good on the plate. But the only downside was that the lamb pieces were mainly all fat. There wasn't enough meat…
