About Star & Garter
Pint-sized pub with green-and-gold facade plus wood panelling, leather seats and stripped flooring.
Proper pubs aka old-style boozers are becoming hard to find as the gentrification of Soho continues apace, so this one, just off Oxford Street, deserves your support. Dating from at least 1825 and formerly a Courage house, it has a small, cosy, wood-panelled bar area with a matchboard ceiling and a selection of prints and knick-knacks on the walls. The inside has been described as "it feels like being out at sea and in the captain’s quarters".
An overspill bar upstairs is usually open on Thursday and Friday nights to cope with the throng.

I’m not gonna lie, the main reason I went to this pub was bc I was walking for 20 minutes and wanted to go somewhere that wasn’t overly fancy. However, for the two or so hours I was there, I had a great time. The drinks were affordable, I liked that it was small inside, though I will say the music choice was a tad unusual for the vibe for the pub, but hey, it got me dancing. I also wanna give a personal thanks to the bartenders, particularly Elias for being so welcoming & accommodating!

Great pub with excellent service, good selection of drinks and right tunes played. Really enjoyed and definitely will come back next time. Thank you for bar attendant to be so nice and kind when we visited with a child -A1 service!

Everything you'd expect from a traditional pub, this place has lots of charm. Nothing fancy or sophisticated but that's the point - a great place for people from all walks of life to come and socialise. Speedy service. Cask selection could be better but beer was well conditioned. If you're in the area it's well worth a visit!

Great night as always. One thing I love about this place is the staff are always so welcoming. Elias attended to us and his service was 10/10 best place to come after a long day at work
