About Swan

This is a popular friendly community pub built on a busy site by a crossroads, which originally had a pub as far back as the 17th century.

The main bar is L-shaped serving a large area with double aspect windows and tastefully decorated in shades of green and grey with half wooden panelling and wooden beams plus woodland scene wallpaper. Complemented by the grey, blue and cream carpet, there is a mix of tables and chairs with comfy banquette seating. There is also a small fireplace plus a mosaic window at the end of the bar showing the old elm tree and swan motif. The pub is sports orientated with TV screens at either end showing football and racing plus advertising screens. A smaller area leads off with crimson décor and wooden flooring, and then into the spacious second bar, which is more geared up for functions and music events. This has polished wooden panelling with blue and white patterned wallpaper complementing the wooden flooring with high tables and stools. This also has three further TV screens for sporting fixtures. This leads into the small carpeted conservatory, which is normally used for dining.

Up to three cask ales are usually available. Keg beer range includes Brixton. Cask Ale Tuesday has all cask ales at reduced price (no further CAMRA discount applies).

Operated by Great UK Pubs under the Stonegate group. Reopened in late February 2024 after a major refurbishment.

We reserved a space for a work social, and the staff at The Swan could not have been more helpful. There is a lovely atmosphere, a nice garden and good car park. The food was great and affordable. I would definitely book this again.

Went for drinks and then decided to order food which was a winner. Definitely recommend the Bombay wings and the covered Doritos nachos. Mains were a BBQ Mac n cheese burger which was a double patty with a good size portion of mac n cheese on top, great combo! And the Thai veg curry with chicken that had an authentic balance of spice and aromatics… and all reasonably price. Well done Swan team, would definitely recommend.

Been going to the swan for decades, my mum actually worked in there in 1962. I returned Friday to watch a band with friends, first time I had been for over a year, I had Brixton pale ale which was nice. Bar person was pleasant for my first round, I was served by different person second time who I found to be miserable and surly and got my wife's order wrong. Toilets just about OK. Band was loud hurt my ears I was seated close. They where OK. Overall an OK experience

Was a regular here for years before moving to the USA and whenever we come back to visit family we always pop in for a drink and it’s like we never left. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and decent prices/selection of beer. They have also just had a full refurbishment of the premises which looks great. As always I will be in for a drink the next time I cross the pond!
