About Talbot
Gastropub with European beer menu, streetside tables and a bookable upstairs room with terrace.
A historic pub that has been trading for over 150 years. Revived and much improved by independent operators, a corner pub in De Beauvoir Town area now featuring attractive evening menu, and Sat brunch and Sun roasts. Popular with after work vistors and diners. Bare floor boards and plenty of uncovered brickwork, with mainly wooden tables and chairs help create a relaxed and comfortable feeling. Garden in summer and upstairs private hire room and a rooftop balcony.
On a visit at the end of August 2022, only Landlord was available. The other handpump was not then is use. This might change. Taken over by Frontier Pubs June 2023.

Good Sunday roast nice roof terrace first come basis. House drinks over priced and service not great. Lovely deserts

So chuffed with the beef Sunday roast! We booked in advance (as recommended by staff) because tables are filled very quickly. The beef was tender and all of the trimmings cooked to perfection, with perfect seasoning. So far the roast potatoes are the best I've had, crispy on the outside, buttery inside. The gravy was thick and flavoursome. Service was good, the staff were fast and attentive. Would highly recommend!

Lovely place and staff but the roast didn’t really hit the marks, especially the beef which was flavourless and dry.

An absolute corker of a place with friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff, a good range of drinks and fantastic food (Gurnard was on the menu and that deserved 5 stars). I didn't give the food 5 stars simply because the Serrano ham and manchego croquettes I had didn't have enough of either in them in my opinion (I worked in Madrid, so am used to the 'croquettas de Serrano being full of the meat).. The bechamel sauce could have done with being cooked out for another couple of minutes. There was the briefest hint of flour on the mid-palate. This is a mere quibble

The last couple of times we had food here we found it had gone downhill, from a stodgy burger to a charcuterie board offering poor variety, and thus not worth the price. Service at the bar was super friendly, our server forgot the sauces we asked for despite it being a relatively chill mid week evening. The space upstairs feels a bit less cosy now without the sofas but still pretty.
