About Vine

Big old pub set back from the road with front garden, numerous interior rooms and a gastropub menu.

12/11/22 - No cask beer tonight. Vine Climber beer (GK house) turned round. No sign of locale. Visited again Jan 2023 - just the badged beer, LocAle listing removed.

This large free-house was acquired in 2011 by independent pub group, Realpubs Ltd just before they in turn were bought by regional brewing giant, Greene King. It subsequently closed for a comprehensive refurbishment which was done in the Realpub style, creating an 80 seat dining room at the rear, with a large skylight, and the kitchen semi-open to diners.

At the front of the pub is a large decked terrace with huge umbrella awnings providing shelter. As you enter note the tiled mosaic bearing the pub's name immediately inside the front door, which despite some signs of wear and tear does more than enough to evoke the pub's previous life. The front end of the pub is for drinkers, lots of large tables, bar stools and a smaller room off to the left, with two rooms upstairs available for hire. More logically the bar servery now faces customers as they enter. Food is served through the day but the menu can vary.

We ascertained that a discount was programmed into the till for CAMRA members. Many GK managed pubs do this but equally likely that not all bar staff may be aware!

A great pub set back from the main road with an outside terrace/garden area. Perfect for a sunny day. Deceptively spacious inside pub with a large dining and games area round the back. We visited around 1.30pm so the pub was pretty quiet which suited us after several hours walking in nearby Hampstead Heath. Food was excellent and friendly service. Would definitely come back again if in the area

We visited for Sunday lunch, sadly would not be returning. Food was mostly nice although the roast lamb was very tough and the mushroom strudels came out cold! Service was very bad, friendly but absolutely glacial. We even had to wait 20 minutes for the bill even though we asked 4 times.

Really pretty pub with lots going on - my friend is having a baby in a couple of weeks and we can't wait to try the bring your baby pub quiz. The shuffleboards at the back are cool for a bit of fun and I really liked the drinks selection on offer. Food was yummy, the chickpea salad is a really nice warming dish.

Lovely pub, guy who served us at the bar was lovely, really spacious and good atmosphere, not too noisy. We ordered Vegan Wellington "with all the trimmings" for £19 a pop. When it arrived, I asked the guy who delivered it where the trimmings were because the plate was incredibly bare! The Wellington itself was really nice, but a more accurate description would have been "Vegan Wellington with half a carrot, some cabbage, a teaspoon of mashed parsnip and three Aunt Bessie's potatoes". I also notice in a other reviewer's post that their vegan wellington came with a Yorkshire pudding. No…
