About Admiral Codrington

Gastropub with chunky tables in saloon and a modern dining area with retractable glass roof.

Known locally as "the Cod", popular with tourists and recommended in the Sloane Ranger Handbook. High ceilinged wood-panelled bar with the old cocktail bar now turned into a restaurant. Licensed in 1830 as a beer house and rebuilt in the 1860s because of railway tunnelling between South Kensington and Sloane Square. Named after the naval officer who captained the 98 gun ‘Orion’ at the Battle of Trafalgar and later, as Vice-Admiral of the Blue, led the fleet which defeated the Turks at Navarino in 1827.

Listed in the Estrella Damm top 100 gastropub awards 2022.

Good cocktails, and amazing service from both Morgan and francesco! Personally love the scotch egg, pairs beautifully with a cheeky cocktail! Beautiful atmosphere will definitely come again.

We had an excellent experience! The fish and chips were delicious, but what really made our visit stand out was the exceptional service from our server, Francisco. He was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Highly recommend!

Had dinner and drinks here with a friend in between an event. We were served my Morgan and I can honestly say she is the best bar person I’ve ever come across in London. Kind, attentive and personable. The food was incredible and the little beer garden out the side is great on a warm afternoon. Great little pub!

Such a shame as it showed promise, but after buying a drink and ordering the Sunday Roast Beef, what arrived was very disappointing. The Yorkshire Pudding was not only flat, but uncooked and flat. The vegetables consisted of half a carrot and loads of carrot puree plus a couple of burnt ribbons of kale. And only two roast potatoes which I think had been deep fried. And then a smothering of gravy all served on a 9” plate, so not a tradition roast that it promises to be.
