About British Oak

Traditional pub offering a beer garden, wood-panelled walls, Sunday roasts and live music evenings.

This is an attractive and imposing 3 storey building with ground and first floor veranda style coverings. For many years a Courage pub and was usually present in the early CAMRA Good Beer Guides. Traditional sports oriented front public bar and a separate saloon to the right rear still fitted out with dark wood wall panelling from the Courage era. Bar counter in public bar has 4 handpumps and that in saloon has 4 handpumps too. Food from the Pieminister range is available until 9.15 daily. Outside there is seating on the paved area to the front and a pleasant garden to the rear. Sloped ramps ease access to both bar entrances.

🚇 Westcombe Park 🍺 £5.60 Cruzcampo The British Oak is located in Blackheath, Southeast London. The nearest station is Westcombe Park, it’s a ten minute walk to get here. This imposing three storey ex Courage pub was built in 1858. The architecture is quite unique for a pub, there's a cast-iron balcony running across the first floor which is supported on iron columns forming a sheltered veranda. This is a good size two bar pub that is traditionally decorated. The public bar is located front left and has an ‘L’ shaped bar, traditional furniture, a jukebox and dartboard. The Saloon bar is…

Been drinking there fairly regularly this past two months. All the staff except the chubby woman named Bobby are polite. Today for a unknown reason she was very rude. She interrupted my conversation with my friend saying something about me not doing my job. I am an electrician but I have never worked for her. This is the second or third time she has directed silly coments in my direction. I'm wondering if it's because I'm from an ethnic background. I thought she may have been drinking and was drunk.

This afternoon I visited your establishment with a large group of family & friends to celebrate my grandads 80th birthday. My family regularly frequent your establishment and we have never had a negative experience before. Whilst there, myself, partner, brother, cousin and my 4 year old daughter went to the inside seating area to order some pies, we know this is something you are known for and apparently the only thing you serve on your limited menu (I wasn’t aware you didn’t have a children’s menu or wider variety of choice as I haven’t eaten there before, only usually order drinks). We sat…

Found the pub by chance. Only food is their specialised pies but they are the real deal. Pleasant atmosphere, good beer, great pies. Plus tried their new desserts which were delicious. Will be going there again...and again.

A great local pub which I often pop into after work if in the office. A vast selection of beers on offer, two bar areas and a front and rear beer garden too. The staff are polite and engaging and the other locals are friendly too.
