About Cavern

Opened in 1991 but with a 1960s rock and roll atmosphere successfully created by many photographs and posters, matched by the landlord's record selection and regular live music sessions.

The floor is tiled but with carpeted seating corner areas.

An original Gilbert Scott red telephone kiosk stands next to the door.

A small room at the back has a pool table.

The pub does not serve food but customers are welcome to bring in their own.

Such a great music venue - always a fun time! This venue has a plethora of live bands playing most days of the week, most of which are free to watch! The venue has a lot of character and is extremely popular (for good reason). The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is fun and friendly. They have a website listing all of the different musical acts for the next few months. Perfect for anyone who loves rock music or wants to see some awesome cover bands (such as deep purple, led zep, Kate bush and so many more.) I have had many good…

Excellent family-run live music venue, usually 6 nights a week, mostly rock, blues, Americana. Usually free but of course you're expected to buy drinks and put some cash in the tip jug for the bands! Well decorated with music posters, photos and memorabilia, especially the Beatles. Friendly clientele. Good range of drinks. Great fun!

Took my family to see the Frankie Connolly band. We walked in, bought our drinks and stood to watch. The band were incredible. The venue is incredible. During the band’s break and before they were due to restart I decided to pop to the gents before intending to get another drink. On my return our evening was ruined and my family were genuinely shocked after being approached by an older man (apparently the current owners Dad) who put his hands on my children’s shoulders and shouted in my family’s face “that’s called a bar” whilst gesturing towards the bar. I was told of this upon my return…

Great live music. Reasonable priced drinks. Would love some craft beer options from Verdant, drop project, cloud water, penrith, dark star, beak, abyss, pressure drop, left handed giant

Absolutely appalled by the manager of this venue. A group of us went to see the band, we had been there for about half an hour when the manager demanded that one of my friends buy a drink, he was watching the band and hadn't had a chance to get a pint yet. He shouted and spat in my friends face and said how do we expect him to make a living with customers like us. There was absolutely no need for this behaviour, completely unnecessary. He than told my friend he had to leave, I've never heard of someone being chucked out of a pub for NOT DRINKING enough alcohol. He will not get custom with…
