About Cockpit

The Cockpit is Chislehurst's first micropub, and opened its doors for the first time in late December 2020, unfortunately with the Covid crisis in full swing. It was able to begin operating more normally the following summer as lockdown eased and quickly became a popular addition to the local community. A choice of real ales from small breweries from all over the country is available, served from a cold room behind the small bar. A board behind the bar displays what is currently available. Bar snacks are also available. The atmosphere is easy going and chatty, with a £1 fine for using any mobile phones or foul language.

The deceptively spacious premises are shared with a florist, with wooden panelling, beams and flooring along with exposed brickwork and hops adorning the ceiling. There is plenty of assorted seating inside with low tables in the front area, complete with former fireplace, plus further high tables and bench seating by the small bar at the rear.

Further seating is available with benches outside on the covered enclosed pavement, which can get busy in warmer weather.

The pub is named after the ancient Cockpit which is situated a few minutes walk away on Chislehurst Common (see picture).

We come to Chislehurst about every six weeks to visit family. We always visit our favourite micro pub - the Cockpit. Superb beers and excellent staff if you need help with which beer to order. We strongly recommend the smoked nuts to go with your favourite drink as well. You will not be disappointed.

Words can’t describe how good this place is… but I’ll have a quick go. The cider selection is brilliant… and tasty… and so is the food.

We we're visiting friends in the area who brought us here for the first time. A wonderful little place, part florists, part micro brewery. Cute and cozy with outdoor seating We instantly fell in love with this hidden gem. Great selection of crafts beers and snacks.

Always guaranteed a warm welcome. Small, friendly micro pub with a good choice of beers and wine. Also do a small selection of light bites including sausage rolls, pork pies and scotch eggs at £7.50 - very tasty, packed with meat and nicely served. Flower shop inside adds a pleasant smell and a splash of colour. Just a shame we don’t live a little closer.

Fantastic micropub based in a florists(!) in a lovely location on Royal Parade. Great selection of ales both local and from further afield which are always in excellent condition. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is cosy. Seating is close together and encourages conversation amongst customers. Far and away the best place for real ale in Chislehurst and rightly voted by Bromley CAMRA as their Pub of the Year.
