About Conquering Hero
A friendly locals' pub with some interesting internal features. There are occasional social events such as for Burns Night and Halloween. A young pig called 'Piggy Stardust' now occupies an enclosure in the garden - a replacement for 'Frances Bacon' who was the resident pig for several years up to January 2024. The Conquering Hero is the closest pub to where a dog named Pickles famously found the missing World Cup trophy in 1966.

Amazing neighbourhood pub with a lot of character and a pet pig at the side of the pretty large beer garden out the back! sadly didn't have time to stay for food, apparently there was a bit of a wait, but it looked pretty good and the menu was really interesting for a pub, so I guess we'll have to go back. They do specials on Monday and Tuesday; loaded fries for a fiver. Decent.

**Review for The Conquering Hero** I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at The Conquering Hero, and I can confidently say it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, things went downhill quickly. First and foremost, the service was abysmally slow. We waited an unreasonable amount of time just to be acknowledged, let alone to receive our orders. It felt as though the staff were actively ignoring us, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. To make matters worse, we encountered an exceptionally rude man who claimed to be…

(Famous)Pub pig+affordable even for students+rebel spirit+music=winner. If this pub were in my neighbourhood, I would go there every day. I wish we had had something like this when I was a fashion design student. No wonder it's a favorite with GenZ and seniors alike. Went there twice on my last London trip to see Frances Bacon the pig, but she is an old lady and prefers long naps to noisy humans. ;) not blaming her. Well- better luck next time. They play 80s MTV style music on a screen, on Wednesdays there is a traditional band playing. Their facade lightning is excellent as well. Have…
