About Crooked Billet
Restored, bright joint serving local real ale and pub meals, with beer garden and ping-pong table.
Refurbished in July 2013 retaining the wood panelling but now a single room. The 4-5 cask ale focus on local beers from breweries such as Redemption, Five Points and East London. Large garden with a number of comfortable seating alcoves. Taken over by Young's October 2023.

I came here out of nostalgia wanting to see how the place had changed following the new decor outside. Let me just say it did not disappoint, things have only gotten better and better. The outside garden space is a lot bigger since the carpark was repurposed. Great atmosphere inside and in the garden area. There are heated lamps and USB charging points for your phones, which was fantastic. The children's play area is spacious and right at the end of the garden, and there are lots of plants to shield you from noticing outside traffic noise. I love what the owner has done with the place.

Yeah i like this place most of the time, but there was a kids birthday party or something going on in the beer garden. I suppose it’s my fault for assuming kids wouldn’t be at a pub on a Friday night, so I’ll take the hit on that one. Other than that, it’s a nice place. They have good beers and the beer garden is huge.

Went here for a Sunday roast. All the food was cold (even the sticky toffee pudding) and the gravy was watery. Taste wise also not good. The bar staff was lovely though. Another good pub ruined by the Youngs group.

Absolutely massive garden area. Overall a classic pub. The staff were a bit hit or miss on this particular night but I'm not sure how common that is around here so I'll have to go again and see.

The food was good and lovely outdoor area with covered seating. BUT securing a gluten free meal for a coeliac diner who also has Alzheimers was an unrelaxing experience for his carer. Firstly, just one option appeared on the menu and was finished. We were advised the chicken was gluten free but a subsequent perusal of the allergen list indicated this wasn't the case. The staff did try to be helpful, going repeatedly to and from the kitchen but bringing conflicting information. Ultimately, the diner ate a burger and mash without the requested vegetables.
